ReWild Desaru Future Goals

As the Project ReWild Desaru moves forward there are a number of goals planned to be accomplished in the long-term, positive effecting both on the environment and the inhabitants. Indeed, one of the main goals is to maintain and diversify the biological richness of Desaru Johor Malaysia.

Through the reforestation of indigenous trees, regeneration of wildlife habitats, and establishment network of wildlife corridors. This restoration will assist in the long-term recovery of Desaru’s natural heritage. For this reason, Project ReWild Desaru wishes to enhance the resilience of the area through successful reforestation and habitat restoration projects.

It means that through measures such as planting more plant species and enhancing the plant species quality within the concerned ecosystems the project aims at fortifying the ecosystems against shocks such as climate change, diseases, and disasters among others. This ability is highly beneficial for sustaining the ecosystem and keeping the environment as healthy as possible for years to come.

One of the major goals of the project is to bring the focus on environmental conservation among residents and tourists. Focused on capacity building to create nature lovers, this project involves people in camera trapping for wildlife, seeds collection, tree planting and bird census activities.

This has the effect of making conservation sustainable as the community members become the custodians of the natural environment. To accomplish this goal, Project ReWild Desaru is intended to become environmental education and research hub in Malaysia.
