ReWild Desaru Camera Trap

Wildlife tracking and monitoring research involves use of camera traps, and it is an important tool in our tracking efforts. Surveys using camera traps involve installing the devices in several sites to capture animals’ pictures and videos while they go about their activities in their environments. It is also risk free for the animals, which makes it easy for one to observe and study the presence, activity, and population density of various species without necessarily having to interfere with them.

The data gathered from our camera trap system enables us to have a clearer picture of the status of Desaru’s ecosystems and its flora and fauna and which areas of conservation should be focused on next. Members of the public can contribute towards placing the camera traps and also assist in monitoring and cleaning them reguarly. This activity gives people a rare opportunity to look at the unseen aspect of the lives of the various creatures in the region and this in turn makes the public more responsible in the conservation of the various species.
